telc B1 Listening: tasks and strategy

Von PreparaioAktualisiert am

The Listening section has several recordings of different character. Tasks are closed (true/false, multiple choice). You usually hear each track once — except for certain short items played twice. Check the current model test for the binding rule.

Inhalt

What you hear

Typical recordings include everyday announcements (station, airport, radio), a personal conversation between two speakers, and a longer interview or report.

Speaking rate is B1-typical — not artificially slow, not native newscast speed either.

Notes during listening

You may write in the booklet. Use the time before each recording to read the questions and mark keywords.

During the audio, write only key words — full sentences steal attention. Transfer answers to the sheet at the end if transfer time is provided.

Classic traps

Numbers, times, and prices are often corrected ("actually not 3pm, but 4pm") — listen to the end.

Distractors mention all three options; only one is the answer. Wait for the confirmation ("so we'll take …").

When you miss something

Keep listening. Leave missed answers blank and fill in a best guess at the end — empty fields guarantee zero.

Häufige Fragen

Do I hear each recording once or twice?

It depends on the task. Some shorter items play twice, others once. The binding rule is in the current model test.
