telc B1 Language Elements

Von PreparaioAktualisiert am

Language Elements test whether you can make grammar and vocabulary choices in a real text. The section has two short gap-fill texts in different formats. It is one of the shortest but most point-relevant sections.

Inhalt

Part 1: multiple choice

A text with gaps and three options per gap. Common targets: verb forms and reflexives, prepositions, connectives, and articles.

Strategy: read the whole sentence before looking at options. For each option, check both grammar and meaning.

Part 2: word list matching

A second, usually different text with a word list. Each word fits exactly one gap; some words from the list fit none.

Strategy: solve the unambiguous gaps first (where only one word is grammatical), cross them off, then work through the harder gaps.

Typical traps

Prepositions with dative or accusative (in, an, auf), connectives that change word order (deshalb, trotzdem, weil), and fixed phrases (sich freuen auf, warten auf).

Train these areas systematically, not only via exam-style items — 15 minutes a day of grammar drills goes a long way.

Häufige Fragen

How many points is Language Elements worth?

The exact weighting is in the current model test. Overall the section is smaller than Reading or Listening — but every error is felt.
