How it's calculated
- Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing are each reported on a 1.0–6.0 scale in 0.5-point increments.
- The overall score is the arithmetic mean of the four bands, rounded to the nearest 0.5-point increment.
- The CEFR classification follows the assignment of band to proficiency level published by ETS; intermediate values are assigned to the lower level.
There is no official conversion between the new bands and the previous total score of 0–120. Therefore, the calculator does not invent a 0–120 value. The ETS Score Report is always binding.
