telc Deutsch B1 — 8-week balanced study plan

The 8-week plan is the default choice. Assumes early B1 or stable A2. Skills rotate so none go cold; Language Elements is the only daily element.

Weeks 1–2 — format and error analysis
Take a full practice exam, categorise errors, grammar reset (tenses, connectives, prepositions). Vocabulary work by topic (work, housing, travel).
Weeks 3–4 — rotating skill focus
Two skills per week in focus, plus daily Language Elements. Two writing tasks a week with correction.
- Week 3: Reading + Writing.
- Week 4: Listening + Language Elements intensive.
Weeks 5–6 — writing polish and Speaking
Work through writing corrections from Weeks 3–4 systematically. Oral training with a partner: Part 1 (making contact), Part 2 (talking about experiences), Part 3 (planning together).
Weeks 7–8 — simulations and taper
Two full exam simulations under real conditions, then a quiet week before the exam. Last 48 hours: no new material.
- Week 7: simulation 1 with full error analysis.
- Week 8: simulation 2 early in the week, then taper.
Frequently asked questions
Are 8 weeks enough to jump from A2 to B1?
If you are stable A2 and practise regularly, yes — but vocabulary and grammar need priority in Weeks 1–4.
How often should writing tasks be corrected?
At least once a week by a qualified person. Self-correction produces less, because you cannot see your own errors.
