What can I really practice for the DTZ for free?
The placement test is completely free. You don't need an account, an email address, or a credit card. You start directly in your browser, complete short tasks from all four skills, and at the end, you'll see an honest evaluation for each skill.
We explicitly say "honest" because we deliberately don't show a fantasy prediction if we have too few answers from you. We prefer to transparently say "for a reliable assessment, we need a few more tasks" rather than invent a number.

How to make the fastest progress — even with the free offer
"Free" for us does not mean "less useful." Even with the free offer, you can make significant progress in a few weeks — if you follow three simple rules.
First: Practice regularly, not sporadically. Ten minutes on five days is more effective than one hour on the weekend. Second: Practice all four skills, even those you find difficult. That's where your fastest progress is possible. Third: Look at your mistakes. After each task, we show you what was right and what was wrong — don't click away, briefly consider why the correct answer fits.
If you then realize at some point that you want more — more tasks, the full exam mode, AI feedback on your own letters and speaking recordings — Premium is available. But the beginning is free, and it's meant seriously.
And something else important: Even the free offer costs us money — servers, task maintenance, support. That's why we finance it through paying Premium users. If you switch to Premium at some point, you also make it possible for others to continue starting for free. That's our model — and we think it's a fair one.
